Christmas Cookies (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - About 4 oz bittersweet chocolate.
02 - A dash of salt.
03 - 1/2 cup granulated sugar.
04 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla flavoring.
05 - Around 10 tablespoons of soft, unsalted butter.
06 - 1 large egg at room temperature.
07 - 1/2 cup heavy cream for ganache.
08 - Colorful holiday sprinkles.
09 - Icing for cookies if you like (optional).
10 - 1 2/3 cups cake flour, sifted.

# Instructions:

01 - Set your oven to 375°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
02 - Whip together soft butter, sugar, and a pinch of salt for about 3 minutes until fluffy.
03 - Add in the egg and vanilla, then blend until smooth.
04 - Stir in the sifted flour slowly in three parts, mixing gently as you go.
05 - Scoop the dough into a piping bag with a large star tip.
06 - Pipe cookies onto the sheets in swirls or your preferred shapes, about 2 inches wide.
07 - Pop them into the oven for around 10 minutes, or until the edges are golden.
08 - Let your cookies cool completely before moving on to decorating.
09 - To make the ganache, heat the cream in bursts and mix it with the chocolate until smooth.
10 - Dip your cooled cookies into the ganache, then toss on sprinkles before the ganache sets.
