Cutout Sugar Cookies (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 3/4 cup softened unsalted butter.
02 - 1/4-1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional).
03 - 2 teaspoons vanilla.
04 - 3/4 cup sugar (granulated).
05 - 1/2 teaspoon baking powder.
06 - 2 1/4 cups regular flour.
07 - 1 large egg, at room temp.
08 - 1/4 teaspoon salt.
09 - Sprinkles of your choice.
10 - Icing (royal or glaze).

# Instructions:

01 - In a medium bowl, toss the salt, baking powder, and flour together.
02 - Use a mixer to beat the butter till creamy, about a couple of minutes, then mix in the sugar.
03 - Add the vanilla, egg, and almond extract (if using) to the butter mixture. Blend everything thoroughly.
04 - Slowly mix the dry stuff into the wet ingredients, keeping speed low.
05 - Split the dough into two parts and roll each until it's about 1/4 inch thick.
06 - Layer the rolled dough with parchment paper and put it in the fridge for 1-2 hours.
07 - Get the oven ready at 350°F and line your baking trays with parchment.
08 - Cut shapes from the chilled dough and space them about 3 inches apart on baking trays.
09 - Let the cookies bake for 11-12 minutes or until you notice light browning on the edges.
10 - Move sheets out of the oven, waiting 5 minutes before transferring cookies to a rack to fully cool.
11 - Once the cookies have cooled, dress them up with icing and finish with some sprinkles.
