Cover a baking sheet with wax or parchment paper.

Mix butter, peanut butter, and powdered sugar in a big bowl. Add cereal and stir until it all sticks together.

Roll into small balls, set them on the baking sheet, and chill for no less than 30 minutes.

Put chocolate chips and shortening in a big microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for a minute, stir, then heat again for 20-30 seconds at a time, stirring until smooth.

Dip the chilled balls in the melted chocolate, then place them back on the sheet until the coating sets.

Keep them in a sealed container in the fridge for a few days or freeze for longer storage.
