French Onion Soup (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) unsalted butter.
02 - 4 large onions, cut into thin slices.
03 - 1 teaspoon black pepper, ground.
04 - 1/2 teaspoon powder from garlic.
05 - 32 ounces of beef stock.
06 - 3 tablespoons sauce from Worcestershire.
07 - Salt according to preference.
08 - 4 slices hearty country bread, lightly browned.
09 - 4 slices cheese (gruyere or provolone).

# Instructions:

01 - Put your Dutch oven or pot on medium heat. Toss in the butter and wait till it starts bubbling softly. Throw in your sliced onions with the black pepper and garlic powder, then cook for about 7-8 minutes until they get soft and turn slightly brown.
02 - Add your beef stock and Worcestershire sauce, then drop in some salt as you like. Let everything come to a soft bubble, put the lid on, and let it cook at least 10 minutes. Your kitchen will smell amazing. Keep it warm until you're ready to eat.
03 - Turn on your broiler. Set up heat-safe soup bowls with wide tops on a cookie sheet.
04 - Pour the steaming soup into each bowl. Top with a slice of toasted bread and lay cheese on top. Stick under the broiler until cheese gets melty and slightly golden. Serve it steaming hot right away!.

# Notes:

01 - You can make this ahead by cooking through the simmering part, then pop it in the fridge for up to two days. Just warm it back up on the stove when you want to eat, and finish the rest of the steps.
