Effortless Onion Meatloaf (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 egg, whisked.
02 - 1/2 cup milk.
03 - 2 onions, sliced thinly.
04 - 1 cup of breadcrumbs.
05 - 1 teaspoon thyme, dried.
06 - 1/2 teaspoon black pepper.
07 - 1/2 teaspoon salt.
08 - 1 1/2 pounds of ground beef.
09 - 1 tablespoon of Dijon.
10 - 2 minced garlic cloves.
11 - 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire.
12 - 2 tablespoons butter.
13 - 1/4 cup beef stock.
14 - 1 cup shredded Swiss or Gruyère cheese.

# Instructions:

01 - Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and let it warm up.
02 - Melt butter in a pan on medium heat. Cook the sliced onions slowly until they turn golden and sweet, about 20-25 minutes. Pour in a bit of beef stock to scrape up the brown bits, then stir until it’s soaked up. Let them cool off for later.
03 - Mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, garlic, egg, Worcestershire, mustard, thyme, salt, and pepper in a big bowl. Work everything together until it's all mixed up.
04 - Blend in the golden onions and half of the cheese. Shape this mix into a loaf and settle it into your baking dish.
05 - Put the dish into the warmed-up oven and bake for about 1 hour or until the inside hits 160°F (70°C).
06 - Spread the leftover cheese over the cooked loaf. Pop it back in the oven for another 5-10 minutes, just until the cheese melts and shines.
07 - Let the meatloaf chill out for 10 minutes once it's out of the oven. Slice it up and enjoy with whatever sides you like!
